Expedited Permitting

Expedited permitting encourages new businesses to relocate in Palm Beach County by assisting qualified building projects with a coordinated and fast-tracked permitting process. Expedited permitting also helps existing local companies expand their operations. Many local governments in Palm Beach County provide an expedited permitting process for new and expanding companies seeking to renovate existing facilities or construct a new facility. The process helps bring together regulatory agencies, authorities, and government departments to concurrently review projects as a way to cut delays and costs during project development.

Expedited Permitting

Where is it Available?

A number of municipalities and the Palm Beach County Planning Zoning and Building Department (for unincorporated areas) makes expedited permitting available to qualified businesses. Local governments that have adopted expedited permitting initiatives include: Jupiter, Lake Park, Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Greenacres, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Riviera Beach, Royal Palm Beach, Wellington, Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay, Mangonia Park, Lake Worth Beach and unincorporated Palm Beach County.

Who Qualifies?

Expedited permitting language varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction within Palm Beach County. Generally, expedited permitting guidelines are aimed at businesses that fall into certain targeted industry clusters; the business must demonstrate the capability to create a certain number of full-time positions within a timeframe and new employment positions shall be value-added employment based on the average salary paid by the employer; the business shall submit financial information to the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County to establish solvency and status as an ongoing business prior to acceptance into the program. Once the criteria are met, and a recommendation to expedite is made by the BDB, the County or municipality will designate a staff member to serve as the liaison to work with the applicant through the development application and permitting process.
