TBC Corporation awards scholarships to five Palm Beach State College students

TBC Corporation, one of North America’s largest marketers of automotive replacement tires through wholesale and franchise operations, presented five Palm Beach State College students with $3,000 scholarships to help them continue their education.

Headquartered in Palm Beach County, TBC serves wholesale customers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America through TBC Brands, NTW, TBC de Mexico and TBC International, and is also a leading franchisor in the tire and automotive repair services industry.

“As a Palm Beach Gardens-based company, we’re proud to partner with Palm Beach State College to support local students with their educational pursuits,” said Megan Filoon, chief Human Resources officer for TBC Corporation. “We recognize that education is a key driver of innovation and progress, and as a large employer in the area, we’re committed to supporting the next generation of business leaders in this community.”

The TBC Corporation scholarships were recently presented at PBSC’s Academic Excellence & Student Service Awards ceremony in Palm Beach Gardens. The scholarships support Palm Beach County students who have completed their Associate of Science degree and wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree in supervision and management at PBSC.  The recipients were: Jordan Crooks, Amir Alejandro Avila Zapata, Cam Bao Tram Nguyen, Sundar Douangtavanh and Nepthalidau Jean Jules.

“It’s an honor to be given this scholarship,” said Jordan Crooks, who will pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision & Management, General Management in the fall. Crooks’ goal is to eventually earn a master’s degree in sports management and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in order to give back to the College which gave him so much. “I’d like to become an academic dean for PBSC where I can help students achieve success,” he said.

“The Foundation for Palm Beach State College serves students and programs through the generosity of such partners as TBC,” said David Rutherford, Vice President of Institutional Advancement and CEO of The Foundation for Palm Beach State College. “Their belief in us to steward that generosity is greatly appreciated and benefits our young people as they embark on professional paths that, in turn, contribute to our community.”

The scholarship provides financial assistance to students preparing for careers in entrepreneurship, general management, project management or business management, by helping to cover costs associated with tuition and instructional materials. To be eligible, students must demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8 and meet program requirements.
