Palm Beach County hospital names new CEO

Gina Melby, formerly the long-time CEO of HCA Florida JFK Hospital, has been named CEO of a new hospital under construction in Palm Beach Gardens.

King of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based Universal Health Services (NYSE: UHS) said Melby will be CEO of Alan B. Miller Medical Center, a 156-bed, seven-story hospital. It should open at 13655 Pasteur Boulevard in spring 2026.

While the hospital won’t be open for a year, the CEO has a big job to hire and train staff and contract with physicians and service providers so they’re reading for Day One.

Melby was CEO of HCA’s JFK Hospital in nearby Atlantis from 2023 to 2024. Before that, she was CEO of Northwest Medical Center in Margate. She earned a master’s degree in medical management from Nova Southeastern University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. She’s also on the boards of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, the Economic Council, and the Housing Leadership Council of Palm Beach County.

“I am thrilled to be at the helm of this brand-new hospital,” Melby said. “I am eager to hire the best in the industry and partner with the region’s physicians. I look forward to leading the team as we open the new hospital, serve this thriving community that I know so well, and build a lasting reputation for medical excellence and life-saving care.”

UHS also owns Wellington Regional Medical Center, so this will be its second hospital in Palm Beach County. It purchased the development site in Palm Beach Gardens for $32.67 million in 2021. It’s near the Donald Ross Road exit of Interstate 95 and the Alton mixed-use community. The site was also approved for several medical office buildings.

“Gina brings a proven track record of delivering continuous success in leading high-performance teams, building strong relationships with physicians, and managing operations in the competitive healthcare sector,” said Ryan Chandler, regional VP of acute care at UHS. “She is highly regarded as an exceptionally talented and respected healthcare leader, and we look forward to many years of excellence with her as CEO.”
