Making sure they do is the mission of the Business Development Board of the Palm Beaches’ Emerging Leaders Task Force — and today, at its latest meeting, the group shaped the next iteration of one of BDB’s most strategic workforce tools: a fully interactive lifestyle platform for young professionals in Palm Beach County.
A Task Force Designed for the Long View
The Emerging Leaders Task Force is comprised of rising professionals from the region’s top employers. They meet quarterly to guide BDB’s strategy for what the local economy needs to look like ten years from now — and to steer the initiatives that will make sure the next generation of talent has meaningful careers right here at home.
Their focus is deliberate. Attracting companies and supporting local employers is one part of economic development. Keeping the people who staff those companies is the other. And the two do not happen in isolation.
From Booklet to Platform: What Is Changing
For the past few years, BDB has provided employers with a Workforce Relocation Guide — a printed booklet with budget-friendly apartment options, the location of nearby hospitals, schools, entertainment districts, and everything a new hire needs to get oriented. It has become a valuable recruitment tool used by companies across the county.
The next version raises the ceiling considerably. BDB is developing an interactive online lifestyle platform designed for young professionals moving to or already working in Palm Beach County — one that will:
- Expand well beyond the booklet’s scope into a fully digital, searchable experience
- Feature curated content on neighborhoods, cost of living, cultural amenities, and social scenes
- Serve as a recruitment tool employers can use to attract talent to the region
- Serve equally as a retention tool for current employees exploring everything the Palm Beaches has to offer beyond the office
- Reach a broader audience of professionals who enrolled in our schools or not yet employed here — but could be
Today, the Emerging Leaders Task Force met in the BDB boardroom to help guide the resources that will make the platform genuinely useful to the people it is designed for — because the professionals shaping the tool are the professionals it is built to serve.
