D-Wave Named in $2.013 Billion CHIPS Act Quantum Computing Funding Announcement

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced $2.013 billion in CHIPS Act funding for nine quantum computing companies, including D-Wave.

D-Wave received a $100 million federal Letter of Intent to scale its next-generation quantum systems, including a 100,000-qubit annealing platform and a 10,000-qubit gate-model platform.

Why This Matters for Palm Beach County

D-Wave’s inclusion in this federal funding announcement is significant for Palm Beach County because the company chose the City of Boca Raton as its U.S. home.

The company is also already partnered with Florida Atlantic University and Palm Beach State College on the talent pipeline that will help support the next era of quantum computing.

Together, these developments place Palm Beach County on the federal map as a strategic hub for one of the most consequential technologies of this century.

Building Palm Beach County’s Quantum Computing Future

For BDB members and partners, this announcement reflects the importance of the work being done to position Palm Beach County as a destination for companies like D-Wave.

As the region continues to build its role in quantum computing, the upcoming Quantum Beach Conference on October 22 in West Palm Beach will bring added focus to this growing sector.

Mark your calendars for October 22 and stay connected with the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County as the region continues to advance its role in the future of quantum computing.
